Chaos Tower Help

"The Chaos Tower" (more commonly known as "Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower") is a video fighting game created by the Japanese company Capcom. The format is shown in the classic two dimensional two-player fighting games familiar with fans of similar computer games such as "Street Fighter" and "Mortal Kombat." As with all Capcom computer games, it was released in Japan in December 2004 and later in the United States in March 2005.
  1. Game Information

    • As "Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower" is only available for the PlayStation Portable (PSP), the player will have to become used to operating a two-dimensional fighter game without the familiarity of an external control pad. This will not be much of a problem if the player is already quite familiar with using a PSP, but it would still be advantageous to practice until all the basic movements become second nature. As a further reference, most of the characters function in different ways with regards to their fighting styles and special techniques -- becoming familiar with the various moves of a character (or characters) will make it easier to control them in the long-term.

    The Chaos Tower

    • As well as the standard modes likely to be found in every fighting game, "Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower" also includes a completely unique mode called the Chaos Tower (unique in that it isn't a standard in other two-dimensional fighting games). It works like a tournament when the player must fight a series of battles with a selection of three characters of her choice. The health of each character doesn't automatically refill at the end of each round, so a degree of strategy is needed to be successful (and some stages impose a handicap on the player). This continues until the player reaches the top or is defeated.

    Familiarity

    • Because of the restrictions placed on the character in this mode, the familiarity with a certain set of characters becomes even more important. When it comes to survival modes in fighting games, small mistakes will have larger consequences in the future, for example, failure in later levels becomes more likely. Becoming experienced with a certain set of characters will bring a greater understanding of all their special moves as well as their movements -- it will also make the player harder to beat (and as an extension, more likely to survive until the later rounds of the Chaos Tower mode).

    Special Conditions

    • A feature that can help progress through the Chaos Tower is the ability to skip levels if certain conditions are met. For example, on the very first level of the Chaos Tower, the player has the ability to skip ahead to higher floors if he wins using his character's special or EX move. Therefore, being able to execute these moves at a moment's notice will make the challenge slightly easier to complete or survive.
