How to Use Social Mods for The Sims 3 Ambitions

In "The Sims 3," you can create and control virtual characters known as Sims. Modifications, also known as mods, can be added to the game to create all kinds of new game play and increased social interaction. With the addition of the expansion pack, "The Sims 3: Ambitions," installing these mods is now different than before. You can no longer install mods in "Program Files," but now must use the "My Documents" folder on your Windows PC.

Instructions

  Open your web browser and navigate to a "Sims 3" mod website, such as ModTheSims.info or TheSimsResource.com. Type "Social" into the search menu at the top of the page, and then click "Search."

  Click on the mod to learn more about the social effects it will have on Sims. Read the description to make sure the mod is compatible with your game. If you're unsure what game version you have, view the numbers that appear in the bottom-left corner of your Sim launcher.

  Download the mod(s) to your desktop. Once the download is finished, right click the file and select "Extract."

  Install the mod by opening "My Computer," and then "My Documents." Scroll through the list of folders and open "Electronic Arts," "The Sims 3," and then "Downloads." Copy and paste the mod from your desktop into the "Downloads" folder.

  Open "Sims 3 Ambitions" and click the "Play" button. After the game loads, a screen will pop up, telling you that the mods have been correctly installed.

  Play "Sims 3 Ambitions." As your Sim talks to other Sims, you will now have more social interactions to choice from.
