Compare the game's system requirements with your computer's hardware. The system requirements are fairly minimal, but you will not be able to run the game properly, if at all, without meeting the requirements.
Upgrade the drivers of your video card and motherboard. Hardware manufacturers will often release updates for their products in the form of drivers. These updates increase system and product performance free of charge. These updates can usually be downloaded from the website of the manufacturer of your hardware.
Lower the graphical settings once the game has started. Lowering the settings can make the game far easier for your computer to run, increasing the game's performance and preventing many errors you may be getting. To edit the graphics settings, click the "Settings" option from the main menu and then locate the "Graphics" tab.
Reinstall the game. Installed game files can often become corrupted for a variety of reasons, and often the only way to fix the problem is to reinstall the game. The game will present you with the option to keep your saved games, so you will not lose your data when reinstalling the software.
