History
According to MacWorld (macworld.com), Apple computers have long been considered an inferior choice for gaming applications. Apple has moved to reverse this perception and is attempting to become a leader in gaming applications. Part of the difference in gaming preference was caused by Apple's tendency to rely on proprietary hardware -- these parts not only require different programming language, but sometimes lagged behind similar PC components in gaming capabilities. Since the early 2000s, however, Apple computers have been more open and competitive, giving Apple computers a wide selection of DMG games.
Puzzle Games
Puzzle games for Mac are widely available, and they focus on quizzes and puzzles to challenge players. In one title, "A Fairy Tale" by Reflexive Entertainment, the mini-games drive a longer storyline, while the long running "Bejeweled" series challenges players to unlock achievements, as well as collect the highest possible score.
RTS, RPG
Several types of Mac DMG games involve similar play styles, but slightly different game elements. In the real-time strategy game series, "Age of Empires," players must build a virtual society that will survive against a variety of problems. In the role-playing game, "Alien Shooter: Vengeance," players must complete a first-person story line, while destroying aliens using action game elements.
Action Replay Specialty Codes
Action games for the Mac also offer a wide selection of play styles. In the adventure game "Bad Mojo," players must navigate the virtual world as a cockroach in an effort to find a way to return to human form. In a series of action-adventure games, the "Bionicle" series challenges players to defeat the villains of the Bionicle universe.
