Reader Rabbit Games

"Reader Rabbit" is one of the earliest educational computer game for kids having been published in 1993 by The Learning Company. "Reader Rabbit" has been improved with each advancement in technology and expanded to cover more topics than just reading. The game today can run on PCs, Macintosh computers and the Wii gaming system.
  1. Reader Rabbit

    • Reader Rabbit is the name of the main character but also refers to the games with reading only educational material. The games are offered for age groups four to six years and seven to nine years of age differing by reading levels. "Reader Rabbit" has a program that will keep track of the child's reading level and will assign games accordingly. Other reading games are also offered, such as Reading Comprehension and Phonics games.

    "Reader Rabbit Math" Games

    • Originally called "Math Rabbit," the game name was changed back to "Reader Rabbit's Math." The math games are also offered for ages four to six and seven to nine years of age. The game helps children learn and practice their counting, adding, subtracting and in recognizing number relationships skills. The game also can be set on different levels within the age group and keeps track of the children's progress. The "Reader Rabbit" math games introduce other characters, like Sam the Lion and Penelope the Parrot.

    "Reader Rabbit" Wii Games

    • All of the "Reader Rabbit" computer games are accessible on Nintendo-DS and can be played on the Wii. Parents will need to buy the "Reader Rabbit" Wii CD and each game is sold separately, just like the computer games. While the same educational games are offered in the Wii, The Learning Company has changed the game stories to include new adventures in which Reader Rabbit and his friends can partake.

    "Reader Rabbit" Toddler -1st Grade

    • The Learning Company offers several comprehensive "Reader Rabbit" software packages for children younger than the second grade. Ostensibly, the company does this because early learners need to develop learning skills. The reading includes phonics, spelling, science, problem solving, self-esteem, critical thinking and memory skills. The toddler games are different in that there is no necessary keystroke or mouse-clicking needed. Any keystroke or click will move the game along. The game is stimulating for children ages one to three and offers interactive games teaching shapes, colors and song.
