How to Install Civilization V Offline

"Sid Meier's Civilization V" is a strategy computer game in which users must build a civilization from prehistoric times into the future by controlling the economy and government. In order to run the game, players must download "Steam, a game content-delivery program, and then download the game through the Steam shop. Although you do have to be online to install Steam and to download the game, you can alter the settings to allow the game to played offline.

Instructions

Install Steam

  Navigate to the Steam homepage (see Resources) and click the "Install Steam" link in the top-right corner of the screen.

  Click "Install Steam Now" and click "Save File" when the download dialogue box appears.

  Double-click on the downloaded .MSI file to launch the installer and follow the onscreen instructions. You will be asked to confirm that you want to install the program, so click "Install Now" to begin the process. Be sure to keep the default settings to maximize the gaming experience. Agree to the Terms and Conditions, confirm your Internet connection speed and select your language. Once installation is complete, press "Finish" to close the installer.
Download and Install "Civilization V"

  Navigate to the Steam homepage (see Resources) and click "Store." Type "Civilization V" into the search box in the top-right corner and press "Enter" to perform a search.

  Click on "Sid Meier's Civilization V" and click "Add to cart." Click on "My Cart" and choose to go to "Checkout" to buy the game. Type in your payment details, including your credit card number. Confirm your purchase by pressing "Purchase." Once payment has been confirmed, a dialogue box will appear asking you if you have Steam installed on your computer. Confirm and use your login details to sign in.

  Confirm that you wish to download and install the game now and follow the onscreen instructions. You can right-click on "Downloading Game" in the Steam program to pause the download. The process can take between half an hour and a few hours to download and install, depending on your Internet connection. The words "100% - Ready" will appear once the game is ready to be played.
Offline Mode

  Launch "Steam" program.

  Click on the Steam menu from the top menu.

  Click "Settings" and ensure that the box next to the words "Don't Save Account Credentials on This Computer" is unselected.

  Click on Steam menu again and select "Go Offline." Click "Restart in Offline Mode" to play Civilization V offline.
