How to Reduce Crime on Stronghold 2

"Stronghold 2" features many different elements designed to add realism to this castle-simulation game. Knights and armies only offer part of the game. Managing peasants and keeping the citizenry in line often makes up the bulk of the game session. The kingdom's popularity decreases as crime develops among the peasantry. As popularity declines, citizens abandon the kingdom for greener pastures. A skilled king must maintain a firm grip on the criminals in his kingdom and rehabilitate them.

Instructions

    • 1

Construct a Guard Post. Guards round up criminals, placing them in cells and removing them from the population. Unfortunately, convicts take up a population spot in your kingdom that might otherwise contain useful citizens able to perform tasks for the kingdom.

    • 2

Build a Courthouse. The courts try criminals and either return them to the active, honest populace or to the cells.

    • 3

Add a Torturer's Guild to your kingdom. This guild operates various rehabilitation devices which bring convicts back to the straight and narrow path.

    • 4

Build punishment devices. These devices range from stocks -- which take up to two years to rehabilitate criminals -- to gallows and chopping blocks for immediate executions. New citizens replace executed criminals as soon as the punishment is over.
