How to Install LOTRO

Lord of the Rings Online is a free multiplayer role-playing game available for the PC. The game does not require any discs to play and can be downloaded and installed over the Internet through the game's website. The game requires you to register a free account with Turbine, the game's developer, to play; this can be completed as part of the installation process.

Instructions

  Download the game installation file from the Lord of the Rings Online website (lotro.com). Save the file and run it to begin the installation.

  Select "I Agree" on the following screen and select a folder where to save the game. The installation program will begin downloading the necessary files, which total about 10 gigabytes in size. The download could take several hours depending on your Internet speed.

  Click "Next" on the dialog box that appears once the download is finished. Select "Express" installation and choose "I Agree" on the next screen. The setup file will begin to install Lord of the Rings Online.

  Visit the Turbine website (trial.turbine.com/lotro.php) to register a free account to play the game.

  Run the Lord of the Rings game by clicking on the desktop shortcut created in the installation. The game will begin to automatically update. After the game is updated, enter your account login information to start the game.
