How to Apply Add-Ons to FSX

FSX is short for "Flight Simulator X." It was the 10th version of Microsoft's "Flight Simulator" software released for Windows-based PCs. The game allows you to pilot virtual versions of real aircraft all around the world. You can download add-ons for the game like additional planes into the game, increasing its overall replay factor. You just have to import these add-ons into the game in a very specific way.

Instructions

    • 1

Close "Flight Simulator X" (if it is currently running). You cannot install add-ons into the game if the game is in use by your operating system.

    • 2

Click "Start" on your desktop. Open "Computer."

    • 3

Open the "C" icon. Select "Program Files."

    • 4

Open "Microsoft Games." Double-click the icon labeled "Microsoft Flight Simulator X."

    • 5

Open the "SimObjects" folder in the "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" directory. Double-click the folder labeled "Airplanes." Drag the folder for any airplane add-on you've downloaded into the "Airplanes" folder. When the files are copied to the appropriate folder, the airplane add-ons will be installed and immediately be available in the game.
