Instructions
Wander the wilderness looking for creatures to kill. The post-nuclear wasteland teems with mutated animals, such as fire geckos and Deathclaws. Each time you win a battle, you gain experience points.
Search out and destroy dens of Raiders and slavers. The wilderness also contains a number of human hideouts for bandits (called Raiders) and slave-drivers. Killing them awards experience points.
Acquire advanced weapons. Certain locations in the game, such as Navarro, contain weaponry that gives you experience points just for equipping it. You can find a pulse rifle and Advanced Power Armor in Navarro and gain 25,000 experience points for using them.
Talk to every character in the game. Not all of them will respond, but you will gain experience points just for talking to some of them, such as Leanne, whom you meet in the Den. Also, talking to every character will alert you to the full range of tasks you can complete.
Complete tasks as they are offered to you; all of these reward experience points. The map Den offers a number of these quests; the character Becky will ask you to collect a debt for her, which rewards experience points. You can become a "slaver" and go on slave collecting runs in the wilderness, which grants additional experience points.
Complete the missions for each city. When you arrive at a city, check your Pip Boy (the mini-computer you carry everywhere); it will list all the available missions for that city or location. Each one rewards experience points when successfully completed.
Add non-player characters to your party to gain experience points. You will encounter many non-player characters during the game, such as Vic, who appears in the Den location, and Cassidy, whom you can find in Vault City. If you need to complete a task to add them, such as rescuing a dog's owner, you also gain experience points for that task.
Apply your skills at every opportunity to maximize experience points. Pick locked safes or doors with your "Lockpick" skill, risk money at the casinos with your "Gambling" skill, fix or interact with machinery with your "Repair" or "Science" skills, and steal from other inhabitants with your "Pickpocket" skill. Each successful use of a skill rewards experience points.
