Halloween Items
Each Halloween, there are special items given or dropped that are considered rare, because they cannot be traded and are available only during that holiday period. Some of the items that fall under that category for Halloween are Eek, Web Cloak, Warlock Costume, Skeleton Costume, and the Grim Reaper Hood. These items can be worn, stored or used appropriately, but you cannot transfer them to another player.
Christmas Items
Christmas is no exception to the rules for rare holiday items. These items are classified as rare, because they are available only during the Christmas holiday season, beginning in 2001. These items include a Reindeer Hat, Wintumber Tree, Snow Globe, Santa Costume, Marionettes, and Yo-Yos. Some of these items are distributed to members only through exclusive holiday quests. Some of the items only have fun attributes, such as the Snow Globe, which, when shaken, turns your inventory into snowballs.
Easter Items
The Easter holiday items started with the Bunny Ears, which were the first of the untradable holiday items. Some of the other Easter holiday items include a rubber chicken, Easter eggs, Easter ring, chicken costume, and the Chocatrice cape. Some of these items had special attributes. For instance, the chicken costume, when worn, allows your character to perform a special chicken dance-style flap emote.
Non-Holiday Items
There are two items that are not given during holiday events that are considered rare. The first item is a Disk of Returning that was available in classic RuneScape, but due to its purpose being removed from the game, as well as the store where it could be purchased, it is now considered a rare item. The half-full wine jug is another item that is rare, because it is no longer available.
