How to Move Teen Sims Out

In "The Sims 3," you have a limit of eight Sims per household. If you want to grow a large family, you will need to move some Sims out so new births can occur. While it's natural for adult Sims to move out, sometimes you need teen Sims to go as well to make room. Teen Sims cannot move out on their own, since they are minors, but they can move out when accompanied by an older Sim. During the moving out process, the older Sim can choose one or more teen Sims to join him at the new house.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch "The Sims 3" application and click the household containing the teen Sim you want to move out.

    • 2

Click the older Sim who wants to move out to make him the active Sim.

    • 3

Click the "Inventory" tab on the game console, and click the "Cell Phone" icon.

    • 4

Choose the command "Move Out." A two-column window will pop up showing the current family line-up on the left and the active Sim moving out on the right.

    • 5

Click the name of the teen Sim in the left column. Click the right-pointing arrow between the columns to transfer the teen Sim to the list of Sims moving out. Repeat this step if you have multiple teens you want to move out at the same time.

    • 6

Click the "Make Active Household" button above the column of the household you want to play after the move out process finishes.

    • 7

Click the "House" button or "Empty Lot" button at the bottom of the right column to choose a new home for the Sims moving out. An empty lot gives you the opportunity to build them a new home from scratch.

    • 8

Click the check mark button to confirm your choices. The game will load the active household you designated. If you chose to keep playing the original household, you can watch as the teen, the older Sim and any others you added to the right column leave the property.
