How to Save the Pumpkin on Fallout 3

"Fallout 3" is a post-apocalyptic game that pits you against the horrors of the Capital Wasteland. Pumpkin is a tame mole rat, caught in a cage at the Jury Street Metro Station. "Fallout 3" was created with the mod community in mind, and a mod is needed to free Pumpkin from her cage.This only works on the PC version of the game.

Instructions

  Find the "Free Pumpkin" mod. Go to the Fallout 3 Nexus website (see Resources), and click on the "Files" option in the tab at the top of the screen. Scroll down and click the "Search" link under the "Using the File Database" heading. Type in "Free Pumpkin" in the search field, scroll down and click on "Submit." Click the "Free Pumpkin" link. Click on the "Files" tab on the bottom of the page. Click on the "FreePumpkin" link to download. Save the zip folder in a location you can easily recall, such as your desktop.

  Download a free zip program. Go to the 7-Zip website (see Resources), and click on "Download" beside the .exe type file. Save and install the file onto your computer. Extract the files from the "FreePumpkin" folder you downloaded. Copy the .esp files by hitting "Ctrl" and "C." Paste them into your Fallout Data folder by hitting "Ctrl" and "V."

  Open "Fallout 3." At the main menu, click on Data Files. Check off the "Free Pumpkin" mod from the options. Go back to the main menu and load your game.

  Travel to Jury Street Metro Station, directly west of Vault 101. Descend into the tunnels below and find the office of Ryan Brigg. Kill him and go to the computer console on the desk. Select the option to open the cage, saving Pumpkin from an imprisoned life.
