Maze Games
One type of mouse game revolves around obstacle courses. Players must navigate to an end point without hitting any barriers. In Not Doppler's game "Pointer," players must move their mouse pointer from a beginning position to an end position. Another mouse game, "Mouse Pointer" by Damon Kilcawley, incorporates objects outside the game board. In some levels, players must avoid rising water as well as swarms of insects.
"Crazy Rabbit"
"Crazy Rabbit," another online touchpad game, is a relatively simple, full page option. Players must bring their mouse pointer as close as possible to the Crazy Rabbit. When the mouse comes too close, the Crazy Rabbit holds the cursor hostage, and players must shake it free. "Crazy Rabbit" takes place in only one environment and is designed by Andrius Kirvela.
Mousing Practice
Many mouse pointer games focus on click-and-drag movement. In the puzzle game "Rush Hour," players are challenged to rearrange cars on a game board to allow a specific car to leave. The levels grow increasingly complex and involve increasing numbers of cars. The "Tower of Hanoi" is also a click-and-drag puzzle game. Rings on a series of pegs must be moved to the opposite side of the screen but only by stacking discs of ascending sizes.
Other Games
Younger gamers who need mousing practice have several options, all available online. In "Alphabet Whack-a-Mole," players must click randomly appearing moles with alphabet letters, all in the correct order. A more complex game, "Red Bugs," is a game where players must move their mouse cursor to avoid contact with attacking bugs. Contact with the bugs depletes a player's life energy, though players can gain life energy by clicking evasive green bugs.
