Oblivion Troll Weaknesses

The troll in "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" is a formidable foe with a powerful attack and require a great deal of damage to slay. Several variations of the troll lurk in all corners of Tamriel, which makes a frightening encounter inevitable. All renditions of the troll have very few weaknesses, but being aware of them will give you a clear edge in battle.
  1. Types of Trolls

    • Seven types of trolls roam the land in "Oblivion." The most common is the standard troll, or common green troll, which has 80 health and does 12 damage per hit. These trolls are common in most dungeons and caves. The painted, savage and swap trolls are less common and slightly weaker than the common green troll, doing only 9 damage per hit, but they have a great deal more health, 12xlevel. A level 10 swap troll, for example, will have 120 health. Uderfrykte Matron is an extremely rare troll that does an incredible 26 damage per hit and has 500 health. This troll is only found in Dive Rock, a mountain northeast of Cheydinhal. The Azhklan troll is also rare, found only in Tidewater Cave southeast of Leyawiin, and have a similar attack and health rating as the swamp troll, but carry a great deal of loot with them. The Kalperklan Troll is very similar to the swamp troll as well, and is only found in Tidewater Cave.

    Speed

    • Trolls are very slow and easy to outrun. If during battle you feel you will die, it's best to cut your losses and exploit this weakness by retreating. The trolls will lose interest quickly and give up soon after you have run away. Unfortunately, all trolls regenerate health, so all the damage you inflicted will have been repaired by the time you are ready to attack again.

    Intelligence

    • Trolls enemies aren't very intelligent, which is a great advantage to a player who can attack from a distance. If attacked from a distance, trolls are slow to find their attacker and will take a while to get to you once they do, due to their slow movement. Exploit their low intelligence by striking from a distance, repositioning and striking again to confuse them.

    Fire

    • The number one weakness of all trolls is fire. All trolls have a -50 weakness to fire, except the Uderfrykte Matron, which has a -175 weakness to fire. Attacking with a fire spell, a burning arrow or melee weapon that has fire damage will drain a troll's health quickly. Exploit their weakness to fire to gain a significant advantage in combat.
