How to Be a Good Fighter in Oblivion

"The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" is a role-playing video game released in 2006 for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Like in any role-playing game, players must carefully customize their characters' skills and attributes to avoid getting devoured as the game gets progressively more difficult. This involves choosing the correct race, birth sign, class, attributes and skills.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a race that is naturally strong. Nords, Orcs and Redguards are the best races to choose from. Nords are tall humans who are strong and intelligent. Orcs are barbarian beasts with great strength and endurance. Redguards are dark-skinned, quick-footed warriors who are naturally resistant to poison.

    • 2

Choose a birth sign with bonuses that will help you as a melee fighter. For instance, the Warrior birth sign comes with +10 strength and +10 endurance bonuses. The Lord birth sign, on the other hand, provides you with the ability to cast healing spells, which can be useful for when you run out of healing potions.

    • 3

Select a standard fighting class like Warrior, Barbarian, Crusader or Knight. Warriors start with a specialization in stealth and bonuses to agility and speed. Barbarians start with a specialization in combat and bonuses to speed and strength. Crusaders start with a specialization in combat and bonuses to strength and willpower. Knights start with a specialization in combat and bonuses to personality and strength.

    • 4

Direct your available attribute points toward strength and endurance. The former maximizes the amount of damage you deal with weapons and allows you to carry heavier equipment, while the latter maximizes your health points so you can survive tougher and more numerous enemy hits before having to heal.

    • 5

Invest in skills that go well with fighting, such as Blade, Blunt, Block, Light Armor, Heavy Armor and Hand to Hand Combat. Keep in mind that you'll start out with certain major skill sets based on your class. For instance, Knights start out with the Heavy Armor skill, while Barbarians start with the Light Armor skill. From there, you can put more points into these inherited skills to fine-tune them, or you can invest points in learning other fighting-related skills to broaden your attack and defense options.
