Texture Issues
Some users experience missing textures when they begin a new game. This is usually buildings or the street rendering as "invisible" on the monitor. To fix this, go to "Add/remove programs" in the Control Panel in Windows. Uninstall anything with your video card's manufacturer in the name, such as "ATI" or "Nvidia," then restart your PC. Visit the manufacturer's website and download new drivers. The missing texture issue should be resolved.
Incorrect Video RAM Found
If your video card has more than 2 GB of RAM, "GTA IV" sometimes will not register that. To fix this, make sure you are running the most up-to-date version of the game. Patches can be found at Rockstar.com. Also visit the manufacter's website of your video card and download the newest drivers.
Rockstar Social Club Won't Install
To play "GTA IV" online, you must install the Rockstar Social Club. This can be downloaded from Rockstar.com. If you try to play in multiplayer mode without this installed, the game may freeze and crash. Without this application installed, you can play single-player only.
Character Has "Drunk" Effects In-game
An anti-piracy measure created by Rockstar was that if you installed a pirated version of the game, your screen would shake and have a blurry effect similar to as if your character got drunk in-game. This will not go away unless you purchase a paid copy of the game. If you have paid for it from a digital distribution service and this happens, contact customer support for the service.
