How to Hack the Computer in Mass Effect 2

The data pad hacking mini-game in "Mass Effect 2" is a timed matching exercise, requiring players to match three blocks of code to corresponding blocks in scrolling columns. Presented with a target code segment, players must navigate a window of scrolling code to select the block that matches the target segment. Selecting incorrect code segments will result in a loss of time. Selecting code segments marked with a red X will result in failure. Selecting three correct code segments in the time allotted will unlock in-game credits and power-ups.

Instructions

  Click the "Start Hack" button to initiate the hacking mini-game.

  Identify the target code segment in the upper left corner of the data pad window. Take note of the pattern and color of the text in this segment of code.

  Move the green brackets around the scrolling code segments using the directional controls. Avoid segments marked with a red X; highlighting these segments will result in failure.

  Select the code segment with the pattern and color of text matching those found in the target code segment.
- 5
  Repeat this process three times before the timer expires to complete the hacking mini-game and receive the message "Firewalls Removed, full access granted. Code Hack Complete."
