How Do I Report a Bot on WoW?

A bot in "World of Warcraft" refers to a character that's automatically controlled, rather than human controlled. Bots typically function through a written program that plays a person's character while the person isn't present at his computer. Bots are not common in the game, due to Blizzard's Warden program, which submits nonpersonal information to Blizzard in attempt to locate hacking programs. However, if you believe you've encountered a bot, you can open a ticket and relay information about the bot to a game master.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the account for one of your "World of Warcraft" characters. Click the red question mark at the bottom right of the screen.

    • 2

Click "Open Ticket" from the left side of the window, and then click the red "Open Ticket" in the middle of the window. A text box will appear.

    • 3

Type a message that explains the details about the person you believe is cheating. Include the character name and the time, day and location you witnessed the alleged bot. Explain what led you to believe that the character was a bot, such as the player continuously running around in a pattern.

    • 4

Click "Submit." An envelope icon will appear next to the red question mark. Click the icon to edit your ticket. When a game master reads the ticket, he will inform you through email or an in-game message that Blizzard will investigate the claim and take the necessary actions if the character is indeed a bot. The game master will not tell you the final outcome of the investigation.
