How to Back Up & Play Games From Hard Drives

Most modern computer games come in the form of a CD or DVD. You can install these games on your hard drive to play them without the installation disc. Some require the CD for operation, but most will allow you to back up the game and play it directly from your computer in a few simple steps.

      Turn on your computer. Place the installation disk into your optical drive.

      Run the installation program. Generally, this program will be called "Setup.exe."

      Read and accept the license agreement. Enter your game's product activation key, if necessary. Choose the destination on your hard drive where you wish to install the game. Click "Install." Allow the installation to complete. Reboot your computer. You can now play the game directly from the hard drive by running the primary .exe file from the installation location you chose.
