How to Upload Pictures as Banners and Badges on Dawn of War

"Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War" allows a player to customize the appearance of his forces. The main color, detail color, badge and banner selections get applied to every unit. Properly formatted pictures can be added into the game directory to add additional badge and banner selections. Any banners and badges added are accessible in any of the expansions, despite the main game and each expansion being a separate program.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a new image to make the badge or banner. Badges must be 64 pixels (px) by 64 px. Banners must be 64 px by 96 px.

    • 2

Paste the picture you want to use as a badge or banner into the canvas. You may need to resize it to get it to fit properly.

    • 3

Erase any areas on the canvas you want to be transparent. This allows the unit color to show through. This step is not required.

    • 4

Save the image using the default file type for your image editing program. You should use this file, rather than the .tga file, if you want to edit your badge or banner later.

    • 5

Save badge images as a .tga file in the "Badges" folder of the "Dawn of War" directory. Save banner images as a .tga file in the "Banners" folder of the "Dawn of War" directory.

    • 6

Start "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War" or any of its expansions.

    • 7

Click "Army Painter" in the main menu.

    • 8

Click the "Preview" button under the current badge or banner symbol. The window shows a preview of all the available badges or banners, including the ones you have added. You can select your new badge or banner by clicking on its icon in this window.
