How to Make a New Neighborhood in Sims 3

The "Sims 3" game allows you to create your own characters and control every aspect of their lives, including where they live, who they interact with and what they do for a living. You can even fully customize your characters from the way they look to what they wear, as well as their personalities and character traits. While the game offers a small selection of neighborhoods from which to choose, you can customize each neighborhood to make it your own.

Instructions

  Select the neighborhood you would like to use from the drop-down menu. The base game comes with two different towns from which to choose. As you add expansion packs, you will get more neighborhoods.

  Click on the checkmark to load the neighborhood you selected.

  Use the editing tools to make changes to the town as you see fit. You can move existing structures, divide and merge households, change lot types and edit details, such as names and descriptions. You also can build new homes and businesses, and bulldoze existing ones.

  Save the neighborhood to keep the changes you have made. When you play with this file, the neighborhood will remain customized.
