Kudos Rock Legend Help

Kudos Rock Legend is the sequel to Kudos and was developed by Positech Games. This game is a "life-simulation" where you start a band, write songs and try to become number one on the music charts. You will have to decide how to spend your days, whether it's rehearsing, writing, practicing or taking the day off.
  1. Kudos Rock Legend Version 1.0 Start-up Issues

    • When you first install Kudos Rock Legend and try to play it, you may experience graphical glitches that won't allow you to start the game. To fix this, change your screen resolution to 1028x724 pixels. This should fix the opening screen, allowing you to start the game.

    Kudos Rock Legend Mouse Lag

    • On some Windows Vista PCs, Kudos Rock Legend will suffer from extreme mouse lag, making it very difficult to do anything. To remedy this issue, right-click the Kudos Rock Legend .exe file (or the shortcut on your desktop) and set the game to run in windowed mode. If you still experience mouse lag, try right-clicking the .exe file and running the game as an administrator.

    Choosing Your Bandmates

    • Your bandmates will have a dramatic impact on the difficulty of your game. Check their personalities to make sure they can play their instrument well and don't have "destructive" traits such as "alcoholic," unless you're looking for a challenge. Choosing mild-mannered bandmates who all get along with each other will make your game easier.

It can be fun to have a punk rock band with a jazz singer but there will be conflicts in the late game, and the singer may end up quitting because he can't get along with the other punk rock musicians.

    Preparing for Shows

    • The two most important things you can do before a show are advertising and rehearsing. The problem here is each one takes time away from the other. Try to have a 50/50 balance between handing out flyers for your shows and rehearsing your playlist. Your band members will give you feedback on how they think the songs are going, so use that as a gauge and add more rehearsal time if needed.

The day before a show, give everyone the day off to reduce their stress meters and buy new equipment such as spotlights if you can afford it.

    Practicing and Writing Songs

    • Your individual bandmates will need to practice in order to raise their musicianship skills. To do this, just select "practice" from your daily planner. This will initiate a mini-game where you need to memorize and repeat various notes. These are sorted by color and position on a musical scale. There is no easy way to get good at this mini-game, so you will need to practice.

Writing songs consists of putting different chords together on a scale. Each chord is represented by two colors. To make the best songs, have the second half of the chord's colors match the first half of the next chord. If one is red/blue, you should have the next be blue/X.

    Managing Stress

    • The easiest way to manage stress in this game is to simply take the day off. This lowers the most stress per bandmate. You can purchase other stress-relieving items such as better studios, roadies and snacks, but money can be difficult to accumulate in the early game, so wait until you've sold a few CDs before buying enhancements.
