How to Use a Microphone With World of Warcraft

Communication is important in "World of Warcraft," a multiplayer, online, role-playing game for the PC. While much of the game can be played alone, instances and raids, large dungeons that take multiple people to complete, require that everyone works as a team. In some cases, the seconds it takes to type in a message can result in your group's defeat. Using a microphone allows you to quickly broadcast a message to everyone in your party using your voice. Once your microphone is inserted into your computer, you must enable it in "World of Warcraft" before you can use it.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your microphone into your computer. Consult your microphone's instructions on how to properly set it up, as every microphone is different.

    • 2

      Launch "World of Warcraft."

    • 3

      Click "Options."

    • 4

Click "Voice," located on the left side of the "Options" menu.

    • 5

Click the box next to "Enable Microphone," under the section labeled "Talking."

    • 6

Use the "Microphone Volume" slider to adjust the volume of your microphone.

    • 7

Select the method that you will use to activate the microphone. "Push-to-Talk" requires that a keyboard key be pressed before your voice is transmitted, while "Voice Activated" will transmit your voice when it is detected.

    • 8

Click "Okay" and restart your game. Upon restarting, you can use your microphone in-game via the method you selected.
