How to Turn Off Daylight on Mortal Kombat 4

In "Mortal Kombat 4," players had the option to enter various "Kombat Kodes" at the "Versus" screen before a match. These codes could drastically change the way the match played out, potentially making a match ridiculously easy or adding an extra layer of challenge. Of the many versions of MK4 to be released, only the Game Boy Color version featured "Dark Kombat," a mode where all daylight in the stage was removed. This left players to fight in abject darkness and added an extra layer of challenge to the game.

     Start a match in any gameplay mode, and select your character.

     Use the directional pad and the "A" button to highlight the symbols at the bottom of the screen and enter the following Kombat Kode on the "Versus" screen before time runs out and the match begins:

     688-422 (Goro, Shao Khan, Shao Khan, Question Mark, MK Logo, MK Logo)

     Begin the match. You will find that after the initial introduction, the lights will dim out and you will be fighting in complete darkness. This is Dark Kombat -- prepare for a challenge.
