How to Catch a Mew After Pokemon Yellow Is Completed

Mew is considered to be one of the rare legendary Pokemon, one of the most difficult to find. Usually, catching Mew requires a Game Shark cheat code generator. However, following these steps creates an internal algorithm within the game itself which causes a glitch in the game making it possible to catch Mew. Even though Mew is one of the most legendary Pokemon around, these steps not only help you find him; they make him easy to catch too.

  Restart the game.

  Attain HM02 (Fly). The item will be to the west of Celadon City in a house.

  Teach a flying Pokemon the HM02 by opening the menu and selecting the HM02.

  Avoid the fourth trainer (Youngster) after you have crossed Nugget bridge as well as the Gambler. The Gambler will be standing on the path to Saffron City to the east of the entrance.

  Save the game while standing in front of the Underground Path entrance.

  Take one step down and press Start before the Gambler can engage in battle with you. Doing so will open the menu list.

  Select "Pokemon" to view your Pokemon.

  Fly to Cerulean City using the Pokemon that you taught HM02 (Fly).

  Travel east from after crossing the Nugget Bridge north.

  Walk in front of the Youngster (described in Step 4) and defeat him in battle.

  Press Start and select "Pokemon" to view your Pokemon.

  Fly to Lavender Town using the Pokemon that you taught HM02 (Fly).

  Take Route 8 heading to the west. The menu should open on its own as soon as you reach the narrow path (the entrance to Route 8).

  Close the menu by clicking B. Once the menu is closed, Mew will appear.

  Throw a Pokeball to catch Mew.

  Save the game.
