Cheats & Tips for Mario Kart Super Circuit

Everyone's favorite Nintendo racer comes to the Game Boy Advance in the form of Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Racing as Mario, Yoshi, Bowser or any other Nintendo character by itself provides a lot of entertainment, but guaranteeing a first-place finish with a cheat or hint can help matters, too. Knowing these hints and cheats will help ensure you always stand on top of the podium at the end of the race.
  1. Increase Speed Boosts

    • When approaching a speed boost on a small ramp and you have a mushroom, use that mushroom just a split second before hitting the ramp. If you time it properly, your speed boost will increase significantly and thus allow you to increase your lead or catch up. Note that this will not work on extremely lengthy jumps where the distance is already predetermined.

    Power Sliding

    • Power sliding can mean the difference between a first-place finish and setting a new personal record time for a track. To do this, press the R-button and either left or right, depending on the direction you want to turn. Hold the slide for a few seconds, and when you let go, you will get a short boost in speed. This is useful to recover from a spinout or for taking on sharp turns.

    Prevent Spin-Outs

    • If you hit a banana or another item that causes you to spin out, you will sometimes get a slight delay before your kart spins out and loses speed. When you see that your kart is veering and is about to spin out, ease off the accelerator and lightly tap the brakes. If you do this quickly enough, you will not spin out, saving time.

    Speed Boosts

    • There are two moments when you can go from complete standstill to top speed: at the start of the race, and when Lakitu picks you up after going off course. At the start of the race, wait just before the final light appears and jam the accelerator. If you time it right, you will get a speed boost. When Lakitu grabs you, wait just before you touch the ground, hit the accelerator and the same will happen. Note that if you do this too soon, you will spin out and lose even more time.
