How to Find Larvitar in Emerald

While Larvitar is not initially available to players in "Pokémon Emerald," it can be found and traded from its sister games, "Pokémon FireRed" and "Pokémon LeafGreen." Larvitar is a Rock and Ground-type Pokémon that evolves into Pupitar and then the mighty Tyranitar. Because Tyranitar is one of the strongest Pokémon, raising one from a young Larvitar is highly desirable for many trainers.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the Seavault Canyon location in either "Pokémon FireRed" or "Pokémon LeafGreen."

    • 2

Walk through the tall grass to find wild Pokémon in the canyon. There is only a five percent chance of meeting a Larvitar in each wild Pokémon encounter.

    • 3

Capture Larvitar in a Poké Ball and save the game. Larvitar are vulnerable to Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, Grass and Ice-type attacks, so use those types of moves to weaken it before attempting to snag it in a Poké Ball.

    • 4

Take the Game Link Cable and connect two Game Boy Advance systems, with one system containing the version of "Pokémon" in which you caught Larvitar and the other system containing "Pokémon Emerald." Trade Larvitar over to "Pokémon Emerald" by going to the trading area located on the upstairs level of any Pokémon Center.
