How to Fix the Internal Clock in Pokémon Fire Red

If you are using a Game Boy Advance emulator called VisualBoy Advanced to play "Pokémon Fire Red" and you get an error message that reads "The internal battery has run dry," you'll need to fix the game's internal clock to be able to access certain parts of the game. Note that you will still be able to play "Pokémon Fire Red," but you will not be able to access any areas that are time-sensitive or find any Pokémon that are only found during certain times of the day.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Options" tab at the top of the emulator screen.

    • 2

Click "GBA Emulation" if you have an older version of VisualBoy Advanced, such as the 1.7.2 version, or click "Emulator" if you have a newer version of the emulator, such as the 1.8.0 version.

    • 3

Click "Real Time Clock" to turn on the emulator's real-time clock.

    • 4

Reload the "Pokémon Fire Red" game.
