Step-by-Step Instructions on How to Complete Pokemon Fire Red

"Pokemon Fire Red" is a remake of the original "Pokemon Red." The player begins the game with a starter Pokemon. He then ventures to eight cities in the Johto region, collecting as many as 30 Pokemon at each stop. The players needs them to help fight a gym leader in each city who also has a Pokemon collection. With each victory over a gym leader, the player earns a gym badge. After getting all eight Johto badges, the player challenges the Elite Four to become the Pokemon champion and beat the game.

  Pick either Squirtle, Charmander or Bulbasaur as your starter Pokemon.

  Walk through both Viridian City and the Viridian Forest to arrive at Pewter City. Catch a wild Caterpie inside the Viridian Forest which will eventually evolve into the powerful Butterfree. Head to the gym once you arrived at Pewter City to battle your first gym leader, Brock. He has a level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix. Your Pokemons should be at least level 15 to have a chance of defeating him and earning the Boulder Badge.

  Go to Cerulean city and battle the water-based leader, Misty. She has a level 18 Staryu and a level 21 Starmie, both of whom are water type. Use a strong electric or grass type Pokemon and you should have no problem earning the Cascade Badge.

  Go south to Vermilion City. Lt. Surge is the gym leader and he specializes in electric type Pokemons. Avoid using flying or water Pokemons and bring along grass or rock Pokemons. He has a level 18 Pikachu, a level 21 Voltorb and a level 24 Raichu. Defeat him to gain the Thunder Badge.

  Head to Celadon City to battle the fourth gym leader, Erika. She specializes in grass type Pokemons so bring along fire and psychic types for an easy battle. She has a level 24 Tangela, a level 29 Victreebel, and a level 29 Vileplume. Defeat her to earn the Rainbow Badge.

  Challenge the fifth gym leader, Koga, at Fuschia City. He uses an array of poison type Pokemons so bring a fire or psychic Pokemon. He has two level 37 Koffing's, a level 39 Muk and a level 43 Weezing. You will earn the Soul Badge upon defeating him.

  Go to Saffron City to challenge the next gym leader, Sabrina. She uses psychic Pokemons and can be extremely difficult to defeat. Use either bug or ghost type Pokemons to defeat her. She uses a level 37 Mr. Mime, a level 38 Kadabra, a level 38 Venomoth and a level 43 Alakazam. You will earn the Marsh Badge upon defeating her.

  Battle Blaine at Cinnabar Island to earn your seventh badge. He uses fire type Pokemons so use water or ground type Pokemons to have an advantage against him. He has a level 40 Ponyta, a level 41 Rapidash, a level 42 Growlithe and a level 47 Arcanine. Defeat him and earn the Volcano Badge.

  Head back to Viridian City to challenge the final gym leader, Giovanni. He uses mostly ground type Pokemons so counter him with a water or grass type Pokemon. He has a level 42 Dugtrio, a level 44 Nidoqueen, a level 45 Nidoking, two level 45 Rhyhorns. Defeat him to earn your final badge, the Earth Badge.

  Travel to the Victory Road to reach the Pokemon League. You will challenge the Elite Four, Lorelei, Bruno, Agatha and Lance. Defeat all four of them to become the Pokemon champion and complete Pokemon Fire Red.
