How to Put Cheats on Pokemon Fire Red

Insert the ̶0;Pokemon: Fire Red̶1; cartridge into the slot on the Action Replay MAX cartridge.

Insert the Action Replay MAX into the game slot of the Game Boy Advance. Alternatively, you can insert the Action Replay MAX into the GBA game slot of a Nintendo DS. The procedures for entering cheat codes into the game are identical for both handheld systems.

Turn on the Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS. The Action Replay menu will load and automatically detect the inserted game cartridge. A prompt will appear with the option to ̶0;Start Game̶1; or ̶0;Select Codes.̶1;

Select the ̶0;Select Codes̶1; button from the prompt. The code menu for ̶0;Pokemon: Fire Red̶1; will appear.

Press right on the directional pad to move the menu cursor onto the side menu of the code menu.

Select ̶0;Add̶1; from the side menu. The code entry prompt will appear.

Enter a name for the cheat being added. This will be the name that appears in the code menu for you to activate or deactivate. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the name. The ̶0;A̶1; button will add the currently highlighted letter. Select the ̶0;BS̶1; button on the keyboard to delete the last letter entered. Press the ̶0;Next̶1; button when finished.

Enter the code for the cheat being added. Use the onscreen keyboard as you did for entering the code name. Press the ̶0;Next̶1; button. The new cheat will be added to the ̶0;Pokemon: Fire Red̶1; code menu.
