Areas
Some areas in the Urbz: Sims in the City are not available at the start of the game and must be unlocked. To unlock the entrance to Club Xizzle, players must enter ̶0;BUCKET̶1; as a password. Players can unlock Moon Base Zeta by connecting the Urbz to any other game in the Sims franchise. Four different Rep Rooms can also be unlocked. To get the Artsies Rep Room, players must get to the 10th rep point for the Artsies. Getting to the 10th rep point for the Nerdies unlocks their rep room. The Streeties̵7; Rep Room is unlocked by reaching their 10th rep point, while getting to the 10th rep point for the Richies unlocks their Rep Room.
Items
Players can unlock special items in the Urbz: Sims in the City by impressing different characters. Players unlock the Golden Mop Award by using a Streeties Lookin̵7; Pad to impress Kris Thistle. Using a Streeties Lookin̵7; Pad to impress Crystal unlocks the Magic Lamp, and impressing Darius with a Streeties Lookin̵7; Pad unlocks Uncle Suede Shizzle̵7;s Cane. Players can also unlock added time in the Cosmic Explosion mini-game if they pick up a flower that appears as the game ends.
Storage
The Urbz: Sims in the City lets players unlock areas to store items that are claimed throughout the game by building up relationships with other characters that appear. Players who get to the highest relationship level with Theresa Bullhorn unlock the Cinema Booth, a storage area located on the left side of the Urbz movie theater. Players can unlock the Garbage Can storage space by getting to the highest relationship level with Phoebe Twiddle. The Garbage Can will then be located just to the left of King Tower. The School Bus storage area, which is near the Thrift Shop, is unlocked by maximizing the relationship level with Giuseppi Mezzoalto. Getting to the highest relationship level with Ewan Watahmee unlocks the Sea Cave storage space, which can be found near the Bumper Cars mini-game.
