Basic Traits
Characters in "Final Fantasy II: Dawn of Souls" have five basic ability traits that govern actions and influence progress in other statistics. These traits are strength, agility, intelligence, stamina and luck. You can select basic traits to improve each time a character gains a level, and advance each of these five traits to a maximum of level 99.
Attack and Defense
Your character's base attack and base defense ratings are used to calculate damage given during attacks and damage received from attacking opponents. These base ratings are then modified by equipment and spells that improve your attack and defense ability. These two statistics are the only two stats in "Final Fantasy II" that you cannot max out through normal gameplay. However, you can use cheat codes to max out your attack and defense ratings at 255.
Hit Points and Magic Points
Hit points and magic points are the two vital measures that govern your character's ability to perform actions. As long as your current hit points are above zero, your character can continue to engage in combat; as long as you have a sufficient number of magic points, your character can cast a spell. Both hit points and magic points max out at 999.
Accuracy and Evasion
There are two other statistics that reach a maximum of 255: accuracy and evasion. The accuracy statistic refers to the likelihood that an attack will strike its target, while the evasion statistic refers to the likelihood that you will avoid an enemy attack altogether. Both accuracy and evasion are partially governed by your character's base agility statistic.
