How to Get Rid of a Saved File in Emerald Green

"Pokemon Emerald," an expanded version of "Pokemon Ruby" and "Pokemon Sapphire," takes place in the world of Hoenn. As you play as a Pokemon trainer in "Pokemon Emerald," you will begin with a "starter" Pokemon, who you will train to battle against other wild Pokemon and the Pokemon owned by other trainers. As you progress through the game, you will have the chance to catch many new Pokemon, who you can then add to your party and train for battle. You can only have two saved game files at any time, so you might want to delete or override a game file at some point. Use one of these two simple methods to do so.

Instructions

  1. Delete Game File

    • 1

Power on your Gameboy Advance with the Pokemon Emerald cartridge inserted. Wait for the "Press Start" screen to load.

    • 2

Press "Up" on the directional pad. Leave the "Up" button depressed.

    • 3

Press the "Select" button, while still holding the "Up" button. Leave both buttons depressed.

    • 4

Press the "B" button while the "Up" and "Select" buttons are still depressed.

    • 5

Choose "Yes" when "Clear All Save Data Areas?" appears. The game save file will then be removed.

    Override Saved Game File

    • 6

Power on your Gameboy Advance with the Pokemon Emerald cartridge inserted. Wait for the "Press Start" screen to load.

    • 7

Press "Start" to make the saved game file or files appear.

    • 8

Click "New Game." This will allow you to begin playing a new game of "Pokemon Emerald."

    • 9

Play the game until you are ready to stop and save it and then press "Select."

    • 10

Choose a game file to override when prompted to do so. The game will say "Saving" at this point and may take a few moments to override the old file and save the new one. Do not power off the Gameboy Advance or press any buttons during this time. The game will return to the home screen once the save and override is complete.
