How to Get the New Pokedex in FireRed

"Pokemon FireRed," released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, is a remake of "Pokemon Red," which was one of the first "Pokemon" games released. "FireRed" adds additional content not seen in the original game, such as the National Dex, which is a new Pokedex that allows you to record all 386 Pokemon instead of being limited to the original 151 found throughout the story portion of the game. Additionally, after the National Dex is obtained, new types of Pokemon are able to be found in previous areas, making it an essential item to catching every Pokemon.

Instructions

  Complete the story portion of the game by becoming the Pokemon Champion. This is accomplished by defeating the Elite Four on Victory Road after all eight gym badges are obtained.

  Catch 60 Pokemon. These can be Pokemon found in the wild or Pokemon obtained through trades. Pokemon can be found in the tall grass on any route, by fishing or surfing, inside caves and towers or bought at the Game Corner. There are at least 120 Pokemon to catch in the wild in "Fire Red."

  Travel to Pallet Town, located south of Viridian City.

  Enter Professor Oak's lab, the yellow building located at the south end of Pallet Town.

  Speak to Professor Oak at the back of laboratory. After a short cutscene, you are given the National Dex, which automatically replaces your old Pokedex.
