How to Get Celebi in Pokemon Gold Without a GameShark

The elusive legendary Pokemon Celebi is notorious for being one of the rarest and hardest to get Pokemon in the entire series. In fact, without cheating, it is technically impossible to create one, meaning there are a finite number of legitimate Celebi in existence. This includes the Game Boy Color entry in the series, "Pokemon Gold." However, in certain situations, it is possible to obtain this rare beast without resorting to a "GameShark" or "Action Replay" cheat code.

Instructions

Without Events

  Find another player who owns Celebi generated from an event. Alternatively, if you are using an emulator, you could download a save file that contains a Celebi.

  Connect your Game Boy Color via link cable. Emulators such as VBA Link support the Game Boy link cable natively.

  Trade for the Celebi at any Pokemon Center.
With Events

  Check Pokemon.com regularly for information about events in your area. Stores such as Toys R Us and GameStop sometimes host special Pokemon events where legendary Pokemon such as Celebi are made available.

  Follow instructions at the event to obtain your Wonder Card. You will likely need to plug your Game Boy Color into a computer at the event.

  Turn your Wonder Card into any Pokemart in "Pokemon Gold" to receive your Celebi.
