What Do I Do With a Magma Emblem in Emerald?

The Red and Blue Orbs are magical artifacts hidden away on Mt. Pyre in the "Pokemon" universe. In this popular series of monster-catching, role-playing games, players must frequently defend or recover these key items from various evil villains who try to exploit their power. In "Pokemon Emerald," Team Aqua and Team Magma do battle over the orbs in the hopes of using them to control the powerful and dangerous legendary Pokemon, Groudon and Kyogre. You cannot allow this power to fall into their hands.

Recovering the Magma Emblem
- Archie, the leader of Team Aqua, reveals to you on Mt. Pyre that he found the Red Orb, which he hopes to use to summon and control Kyogre. Meanwhile, Team Magma's commander Maxie has made off with its companion, the Blue Orb. Archie isn't going to just hand over the Red Orb and you'll have to defeat him later to get it. In the meantime, Team Magma needs to be stopped. Fortunately, while teams Aqua and Magma fought over the orbs, one of the Team Magma members dropped the Magma Emblem, the key to finding their secret lair! Grab the Emblem and continue.
Team Magma's Secret
- The grunts guarding Team Aqua's base east of Lilycove City accidentally give you all the information you need. Talk to both guards to piece together the hideout's location: somewhere in Mt. Chimney, not far from Mauville City. You can reach the summit of Mt. Chimney from Route 112, which you passed through earlier in the game. Return here and take the cable car to the summit. From there, travel south down the path to the Jagged Pass. Eventually, the entrance to the Magma Hideout will be automatically revealed thanks to the Magma Emblem in your pocket.
Traverse Magma Hideout
- Most of Magma Hideout is fairly straightforward. You will need to summon some muscle to move two boulders blocking your path, a task which the "Strength" spell will take care of nicely. The dungeon will offer a few side routes that lead to powerful items such as the Max Elixir and Rare Candy. Along the way, you will battle a series of Team Magma members, though they present very little danger.
Defeat Maxie
- Team Magma's evil leader, Maxie, is trying to summon the legendary Pokemon Groudon. It doesn't go well for him, however, and Groudon takes off, leaving Maxie almost defenseless. Despite this, he refuses to give up the Blue Orb, and it's time for a battle. Maxie brings three Pokemon to the battle, though only the Crobat is of any consequence. Crush Crobat with any Pokemon equipped with Electric spells. Team Magma will flee the hideout; now it's time to take on Archie for the Red Orb.
