How to Get a Pikachu That Knows Volt Tackle in Pokemon: Ruby

After the success of the 2002 Japanese role-playing game "Pokemon Ruby," Game Freak and Nintendo released an updated version of the game called "Pokemon Emerald." In the latter game, you can get a Pikachu that knows the move Volt Tackle, which was not possible in the previous version of the game. However, "Emerald" was designed to allow transfers between "Ruby," so you can capture a Pikachu with Volt Tackle in "Emerald" and send it to "Ruby" in no time.

Instructions

    • 1

Travel to the daycare on Route 117 in "Pokemon Emerald" when you have a male Pikachu holding a light ball and a female Ditto. To get a light ball, you must capture a Pikachu holding one in the Safari Zone, and you can find Ditto in the desert underpass.

    • 2

Give the caretaker both your male Pikachu and your female Ditto. Walk around outside for a few minutes and re-enter the daycare. Speak to the caretaker to receive an egg made by your two Pokemon.

    • 3

Walk around outside until the egg hatches. This can take any number of steps, upwards of 1,000 or more. A Pichu will hatch, the baby form of a Pikachu, and it may or may not know Volt Tackle. If it does not, you must repeat the process.

    • 4

Battle other trainers or wild Pokemon with your Pichu to help raise its experience. When Pichu has enough experience, it evolves into Pikachu.

    • 5

Connect your Game Boy Advance to another Game Boy Advance via link cable. The port for the link cable is located on the top of the device. On both devices, travel to the second floor of any Poke Center and speak to the woman to begin trading on. Ensure your "Pokemon Emerald" cartridge is in one device while "Pokemon Ruby" is in the other.

    • 6

Select your "Emerald" Pikachu to trade, and pick any other "Ruby" Pokemon to initiate the trade. Once the two Pokemon have exchanged cartridges, your Volt Tackle Pikachu will be in "Emerald," and you can disconnect the cable.
