How to Make Trainer Battles in an Advance Map

With the popularity of the "Pokemon" game franchise, many fans have created modded versions of Gameboy Pokemon games. One of the most powerful editing tools is Advance Map, which enables modders to completely change the layout of the game world. Not only can modders alter terrain and buildings, they can also change the location and dialogue of trainers.

Instructions

    • 1

      Run Advance Trainer. Load the ROM file of the game you want to modify. Select a trainer from the list of trainers, and change any variables, such as the trainer's name or items.

      Open Free Space Finder. Load the ROM file. Click "Search" to find empty offset space.

      Return to Advance Trainer and click the "Repoint" button. Input the number that Free Space Finder found. Click "OK," then "Save."

      Run Advance Map. Open the area where you want the trainer to appear by selecting the zone from the drop-down menu on the left of the program.

      Click on the "Events" tab. Increase "Amount of People" by one, then click "Add Event."

      Drag the person that appears in the upper-left corner anywhere on the map. Alter the trainer's variables, such as facing and movement. Check the "Trainer" box.

      Return to Advance Trainer to locate the ID number of the trainer. Return to Advance Map and input the ID of that trainer in the "ID" field.

      Save your changes in Advance Map.
