How to Change Your Pokemon's Name in Ruby

Sometimes the name you give a Pokemon immediately after catching it in battle just doesn't seem right. Since a Pokemon's name affects its eventual abilities, you should not feel afraid to change it if things are not working out. If you have obtained a Pokemon through trade with a friend, you may not even like the name your creature has, whether it seems to suit your Pokemon or not. Whether you want to give your Charizard a more "fiery" moniker or wish to start calling your friend's Chansey something other than Bill, traveling to Slateport is your best bet.

     Fly to Slateport using Pidgey or another Flying Type Pokemon.

     Travel left from the Pokemon Center until you see a small house.

     Enter the house and talk to the man you see sitting at a desk.

   • 4

     Select the Pokemon whose name you would like to change.

   • 5

     Enter your new name.
