What Is a Nuke in Final Fantasy Adventure?

The Game Boy RPG "Final Fantasy Adventure" only contains eight usable spells that players can cast in battle: Cure, Heal, Slep (Sleep), Mute, Fire, Ice, Lit and Nuke. Nuke is the most powerful spell in the game, and one that players must earn the ability to use by navigating a cave and beating an enemy called the Lich. While primarily used as an attack spell, the Nuke also offers the chance to reveal secret areas and items in the game.
  1. Nature

    • Nuke is one of the four attack spells in "Final Fantasy Adventure," along with Fire, Ice and Lit. Where those spells cast fire attacks, ice attacks and lightning attacks, respectively, Nuke casts a nuclear attack in the form of a ball of energy projected at enemies. Unlike Fire, which sends a fireball to pursue the enemy as it moves, the Nuke attack goes directly forward,

    Getting Nuke

    • While players usually learn magic by finding Spell Books in the game and reading them to learn the spells, with Nuke, players must earn it by beating a specific boss in the game. Players must travel to the Palmy Desert to the far northwest of Lorim and navigate the cave in the area to find the Lich itself. Defeating the Lich with a mix of regular attacks and constant self-healing will award the Nuke spell.

    Equipping and Using Nuke

    • To use Nuke, players equip it to their character by selecting the "Magic" menu after pressing the Start Button. Once equipped, players push the "B" button during the game to use the spell. However, players have a limited number of Magic Points, or MP, and using Nuke costs 3 MP. Once players deplete their MP, they must use an Ether, X-Ether or Elixir to replenish it.

    Uses

    • Besides attacking enemies, Nuke has other uses in the game. In the Desert of Crystal, players will come across a pair of Crystals. Only the Nuke spell can destroy the one on the right to gain access to the Cave of Ruins. Additionally, in the Temple of Mana near the end of the game players can destroy the Devil Head enemies with Nuke to get X-Ethers. Additionally, one will leave a chest that informs players that they can't carry the item inside when they try to open it. However, persistently trying to open it eventually awards the player the Samurai Helmet.
