How to Get HM Flash in Pokemon FireRed

Like other "Pokemon" games, "FireRed" revolves around catching and training Pokemon. The game boasts hundreds of species for you to get, and you also can collect berries, rare pokeballs and skills. HM 05 is an essential skill called Flash. It allows you to see in the dark, though only in spurts. Using this skill, you can travel through unlit caves and access otherwise impossible spaces. The skill is free to learn so long as you have at least 10 Pokemon.

Instructions

  Catch at least 10 types of Pokemon. Find Pokemon throughout Kanto, primarily along the routes between towns. To catch them, attack them until their health meter turns yellow or red, then throw pokeballs at them.

  Travel to the Viridian Forest inside Route 2, which is south of Pewter town.

  Walk through the forest to the southern gate. Inside the gatehouse you'll find one of Professor Oak's assistants.

  Speak with Professor Oak's assistant. If you have 10 types of Pokemon, he'll reward you with Flash.
