What Do You Do in Goldenrod After Beating the Gym in Pokemon Silver?

Squirtbottle

• A little house to the east of the Pokemon Gym is your destination after beating Whitney the gym leader. A girl in that house will hand you the Squirtbottle as a prize. You will need it to advance to the next town. To use it, head north of the city into the National Park, and then leave through the eastern exit. Follow the path to find a mysterious wriggly tree blocking your way; talk to it, and then use the Squirtbottle to awaken Sudowoodo. After defeating or capturing Sudowoodo, head left to Ecruteak City.

Department Store

• The Department Store in "Pokemon: Silver Version" is a whopping eight floors -- six above ground, two below ground. The roof is only accessible using the stairs leading from the sixth floor. While most floors just sell ordinary items, the fifth floor sells valuable Technical Machines, including Thunderpunch, Ice Punch and Fire Punch. In addition, the roof sells recovery drinks, which are like Potions but less expensive and more effective.

Bike and Radio Card

• If you haven't gotten your free Bike or Radio card, you'll want to get them before you leave Goldenrod City. The Bike Shop is southeast of the Department Store. To get there, walk up the main street past the Department Store, and then head left and down. Business isn't doing so well, so the store will give you the Bike for advertising. You can get the Radio Card as a quiz prize at the Radio Tower, which is northwest of the Pokemon Center. Insert that card in your Pokegear, and you'll be able to hear radio broadcasts.

Goldenrod Tunnel and Game Corner

• The Tunnel and Game Corner are the last major landmarks in Goldenrod City. You need the Coin Case from the south part of Tunnel to play games and hold coins. The Tunnel also contains a Barber Shop, Medicine Shop and Valuable Items Shop. The Barber Shop gives your Pokemon haircuts to make them happier; the Medicine Shop, open on Mondays only, sells medicines that are effective but make your Pokemon less happy; and the Valuable Items Shop, open only on the weekends, sells items such as Nuggets at a discount. At the Game Corner, you can play the slots and trade coins for rare Pokemon and items.
