How to Get the Fishing Rod in Pokemon: Ruby

"Pokemon: Ruby" revolves around catching and collecting Pokemon. The player finds most of the Pokemon wandering around the routes between towns, but not all Pokemon are terrestrial. Some prefer to live in the water, and in order to catch them, the player needs to get a fishing rod. Once he has the rod, he can stand at the bank of a river or pond and catch fish Pokemon such as the Magicarp. The fishing rod is entirely free, and the player simply needs to speak with the right man to get it.

     Travel to Dewford Town. It's located south of Route 106 and west of Route 107 in the southwest corner of Hoenn.

     Walk to the middle of town. You'll see the gym to your left and a small pond to the right. A man is standing by the pond.

   • 3

     Speak with this man and he'll give you the fishing rod.
