How Do I Get the Water Stone in the Pokémon Silver Game?

In the video game "Pokemon Silver," the Water Stone holds the key to evolving several Water Type Pokemon species, including Shellder and Poliwhirl. The Water Stone is one of many elemental key items known as Evolutionary Stones. The only way to obtain a Water Stone or any other Evolutionary Stone is to talk to Bill's grandfather. He will ask you to catch a number of Pokemon and show them to him. You must show him a Lickitung, Oddish and Staryu to obtain the Water Stone.

Instructions

  Talk to Bill's grandfather on Route 5 to begin the quest. The first Pokemon he will ask to see is Lickitung.

  Catch a Lickitung on Route 44. You will need to weaken it using your strongest attacks before throwing a Pokeball to capture it. Put the Lickitung at the front of your current party and return to Bill's grandfather to show it to him.

  Capture an Oddish next. Oddish is a common Pokemon and can be found in Route 5, Route 6, Route 24, Route 25 and in Ilex Forest. Place the Oddish in the front of your party and return to Bill's grandfather.

  Catch a Staryu using a Good Rod. Staryu is frequently found at night in the water in Cerulean City, Olivine City, Route 19, Route 20 and Route 21.

  Talk to Bill's grandfather with the Staryu at the front of your party to receive the Water Stone.
