How Do You Get Out of Cerulean City Without the Cut in Pokemon Yellow for GameBoy?

Not having HM01 or Cut in the beginning of Pokemon Yellow can make traveling between cities challenging and frustrating. To progress to the next city in the game after Cerulean City you'll need to go around the tree that is blocking the path.

Instructions

  After defeating the gym leader, Misty, head north to the Nugget Bridge. Defeat all of the trainers to receive a nugget.

  Once off the bridge, take a right and head toward the Sea Cottage. Talk to Bill, who is dressed up as a Pokemon, and he will give you a ticket for the S.S. Anne in Vermillion City.

  Go back to Cerulean City and take a right as you exit the Nugget Bridge. Enter the house with the police officer in front. Head to the back and exit the house through the hole.

  Once outside, a Rocket member will challenge you to fight. After defeating the Rocket, he will give you TM28 which is Dig. Teach Dig to a rock Pokemon as this will be useful later.

  Head south to Vermillion City to use your S.S. Anne ticket.
