How Do I Get Past Snorlax in Vermillion City in the Pokemon Gold Game?

Snorlax is a Pokemon that is known to be lethargic and lazy. This presents a problem to your quest as a Pokemon trainer, since he blocks your path to Diglett's Cave. The only way to wake him up is by playing the PokeFlute on your Radio.

Instructions

    • 1

      Go to the Radio Tower in Lavender Town to obtain the EXPN Card to upgrade your radio. You can now play the PokeFlute from your radio.

      Go North of Vermillion City to the entrance of Diglett's Cave. A sleeping Snorlax will be blocking your path.

    • 3

      Stand next to the Snorlax and tune your radio to the PokeFlute Station. Snorlax will immediately wake up and attack.

    • 4

      Weaken the Snorlax so you can easily catch it. A Great Ball or Ultra Ball will work best.
