How to Get a Fishing Pole in Pokemon Red

There are three different levels of fishing rods in "Pokemon Red." A fishing pole is important to you as a trainer because it allows you access to water Pokemon. Each fishing rod catches different Pokemon. The Old Rod catches only Magikarps while the Good and Super Rod catch stronger water Pokemon.

Instructions

      Enter Vermillion City and head toward the house in the top-left corner of the city.

      Go inside and talk to the Fishing Guru. After your chat, he will give you an Old Rod.

      To obtain the Good Rod, head to Fuchsia City. The Fishing Guru's house is located next to the Warden's House. Talk to him to get the rod.

      Head south from Lavender Town on Route 12. Move the sleeping Snorlax, if you have not already, by playing the Poke Flute. Continue down the bridge and enter the house. Talk to the Fishing Guru who will give you the Super Rod.
