How to Use Name Modifier Codes

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is a deep turn-based strategy game for the Game Boy Advance that allows you to customize the names of all your characters and the clan they are a part of. Once set, these names cannot be edited unless you have access to a CodeMaster device. If you do, you can edit the names, but the format of name modifier codes may be unfamiliar to you, as it resembles more of a programming language than actual text.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the game's Master Code into your CodeMaster device: 1000048A 0007 000037AE 000A. The code will display all the cheats for the game known by your CodeMaster peripheral, including the Name Modifier Code.

    • 2

Press the "A" button on "Name Modifier Code." A collection of text that looks similar to a programming language will be displayed:

      Clan Name

      letter 1=820021A0 xx80

      letter 2=820021A2 xx80

      letter 3=820021A4 xx80

      letter 4=820021A6 xx80

      letter 5=820021A8 xx80

      letter 6=820021AA xx80

      letter 7=820021AC xx80

      letter 8=820021AE xx80

      letter 9=820021B0 xx80

      Hero Name

      letter 1=82001F1C xx80

      letter 2=82001F1E xx80

      letter 3=82001F20 xx80

      letter 4=82001F22 xx80

      letter 5=82001F24 xx80

      letter 6=82001F26 xx80

      letter 7=82001F28 xx80

      letter 8=82001F2A xx80

      letter 9=82001F2C xx80

The game has its own key it uses to interpret the characters, which relies on a character inserted into the two "xx" in the text. The first "x" can range from "A" to "F," and the second "x" can range from "0" to "9." Depending on the combination inserted into the "xx" field, it will change the letter in the character or clan's name.

    • 3

Change the "xx" beside one of the letters to a character. The full key spans hundreds of combinations and can be found on Code Modifier Guide on GameFAQs. As an example, if you wanted to change the first letter of a name to "R," then you would insert "C1" into the "xx" field.

    • 4

Exit the modifier screen by pressing the "B" button and pressing the "A" button on "Save changes." Any changes you made to the character's name will then be applied the next time you start the game.
