Location
The pidgey is a fairly common Pokémon. It can often be found in regions of the game near forests and woods. These areas include routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 24 and 25. Harder to find are the evolved forms of pidgey: pidgeotto and pidgeot. Pidgeotto can be found only on routes 14, 15 and 21. Pidgeot can be captured only by evolving your pidgeotto.
Pidgey Facts
The pidgey is a Flying-type Pokémon. When encountered in the wild, it will often attempt to run away rather than fight. When escape fails, the pidgey will then create a sandstorm to decrease visibility for an attack. It evolves to pidgeotto at level 18. At level 36, it evolves to pidgeot when it is given rare candy.
Capture Tips
As with all Pokémon, the pidgey becomes weaker as physical health declines. The best way to catch a pidgey is to batter it up a little with another Pokémon. Avoid using Electric-type Pokémon, as you can inadvertently knock out a pidgey using a lightning-based attack. Once a Pokémon is unconscious, it cannot be captured. Another tip is to use a super Pokeball, which increases the chance of capture.
Fighting Tips
The pidgey is not commonly recognized as a powerful attack Pokémon. Its fighting strengths lie more in its ability to reduce an opponent's visibility, thereby, decreasing its opponent's accuracy when attacking. When forced to fight, the pidgey is best against Grass-, Fighting- and Bug-type Pokémon. It is especially weak against Electric- and Rock-type Pokémon. One fighting technique often used by trainers is to use the pidgey to weaken an opposing Pokémon's visibility. Then, replace the pidgey with another Pokémon to finish the match.
